You Only Live Twice
First screened in December 2012
Director: Lewis Gilbert. Cast: Sean Connery, Donald Pleasence, Akiko Wakabayashi, Tetsurô Tanba, Mie Hama, Teru Shimada, Karin Dor, Charles Gray, Ronald Rich, Lois Maxwell, Desmond Llewelyn, Bernard Lee, Tsai Chin, David Toguri, Norman Jones, Paul Carson, Laurence Herder, Richard Graydon, Bill Mitchell, George Roubicek, Vic Armstrong, Hisako Katakura, Alexander Knox, Richard Marner, Bill Nagy, William Sylvester, voices of Robert Rietty and Nikki Van der Zyl. Screenplay: Roald Dahl and Harold Jack Bloom (based on the novel by Ian Fleming).

Twitter Capsule: Natty beyond belief—which is where this movie goes, deliciously. Politics of a different time, but not stupid.

VOR:   Seemingly lacks the reputation of a Goldfinger or Thunderball, but has a lot of Bond franchise's indelible images. Weird racial-political currents worth probing.
