Working Girl
First screening date unrecorded / Most recently screened in June 2014
Director: Mike Nichols. Cast: Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Cusack, Alec Baldwin, Philip Bosco, Oliver Platt, James Lally, Kevin Spacey, Olympia Dukakis, Nora Dunn, Amy Aquino, Elizabeth Whitcraft, Caroline Aaron, Barbara Garrick, Marceline Hugot, Ricki Lake, David Duchovny. Screenplay: Kevin Wade.

Twitter Capsule: Script full of confusions, including about its gender politics. Nichols, Griffith bring an unexpected sadness to it.

Second Capsule: Nichols does a laudable job putting over this wobbly script, even giving it some weight. Griffith really shines here.

VOR:   Certainly overcelebrated at the time, but stands with Baby Boom as invaluable archive of how 80s perceived working women, even those we ostensibly rooted for.
