Woodstock
3 Days of Peace & Music
First screened in Spring 1993 / Most recently screened in July 2013
Director: Michael Wadleigh. Documentary record of the instantly legendary upstate New York music concert. Musical performers include Richie Havens, Canned Heat, Joan Baez, The Who, The Sha-Na-Na, Joe Cocker, Country Joe and the Fish, Crosby Stills & Nash, Ten Years After, Jefferson Airplane, John Sebastian, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix.

Twitter Capsule: Compelling synthesis of direct cinema and hippie ethos as 60s pivot into 70s. Still, context lags behind music and myth.

VOR:   Best appreciated if you don't need the movie to fill out your sense of the era or the frameworks of the event. Being a watershed of epic-length American record-keeping is enough.
