We Need To Talk About Kevin
First screened in October 2011 / Most recently screened in February 2019
Director: Lynne Ramsay. Cast: Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller, John C. Reilly, Jasper Newell, Rock Duer, Ashley Gerasimowich, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Alex Manette, Leslie Lyles, James Chen, Lauren Fox. Screenplay: Lynne Ramsay and Rory Kinnear (based on the novel by Lionel Shriver).

Twitter Capsule: (2011) Early formal rigors must buoy increasingly puerile conceptions. Ends up 30% Ramsay, 70% Sam Mendes.

Second Capsule: (2019) Top-level talents in all departments, waywardly committed to blunt, off-putting directorial conceits.

VOR:   Opening acts trust image, sound, montage to tell a story. Conception is cinematically bold, at least, even if I think it misserves the material.
