To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar
First screened in September 1995 / Most recently screened in September 2024
Director: Beeban Kidron. Cast: Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo, Stockard Channing, Chris Penn, Jason London, Arliss Howard, Jennifer Milmore, Alice Drummond, Blythe Danner, Melinda Dillon, Beth Grant, Marceline Hugot, Mike Hodge, Michael Vartan, RuPaul, Robin Williams, Naomi Campbell, Julie Newmar. Screenplay: Douglas Carter Beane.

In Brief:  Wears any goal of uplift or advocacy as lightly as a chiffon scarf. Instead, it's colorful, well acted, and so fun.

VOR:   Birdcage gets more credit, but Wong Foo is more consistent and has more joy as a mainstream lark amid changing ideas of sex/gender.
