I prefer hunting Tsai's ideas; these felt overt. Some too-long takes, but quite a view of poverty and shame. Impressive.

Some of what I resist aesthetically is also what makes the film daring and memorable. No question Tsai is testing duration, repetition, and sound-image relations in distinctive ways.
