Screenplay: Ernest Lehman (based on the stage musical, with music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and book by Harold Lindsay and Russel Crouse).

 Twitter Capsule: People's sweet tooths vary, but this is smartly engineered pop filmmaking. Brims with energy. Rich in feeling.

VOR: ④  I couldn't in good faith swear to a hardcore cinephile that this is unmissable filmmaking but its cultural legacy is tremendous. Among the savviest stage-to-screen overhauls.
