Day for Night
aka La nuit américaine
First screened in November 2006 / Most recently screened in June 2016
Director: François Truffaut. Cast: Jacqueline Bisset, Jean-Pierre Léaud, François Truffaut, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Nathalie Baye, Valentina Cortese, Jean Champion, Alexandra Stewart, Dani, . Screenplay: François Truffaut, Jean-Louis Richard, and Suzanne Schiffman.

Twitter Capsule: Inspires remarkable fondness, including palpable fondness for itself. Looks smart. Tasty sorbet and about as filling.

Second Capsule: Impressive légèreté for a film about the chaotic strain of filmmaking. So self-loving it's almost hard to catch up.

VOR:   Odd that one of Truffaut's best loved and most heatedly debated films is so blatantly innocuous. Different viewers find its lightness more and less bearable. Metacinema at its sweetest.
