Twitter Capsule: In which history and planet are vast and full of paradox, and we invent new faiths all the time, to keep going.

Second Capsule: Raft and rifle. Liana and barbed wire. Idealism, disillusion. All one world, all polluted, sometimes beautiful.

Third Capsule: Maybe a smidge less besotted this time but so impressed with even-paced editing and with operatic story sense.

VOR:   Some durable tropes of the imperial adventure film persist but the film constructs unique and nuanced psychic and social frames on its events.
