Leviathan (2014)
First screened in January 2015
Director: Andrei Zvyagintsev. Cast: Aleksey Serebryakov, Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Elena Lyadova, Roman Madyanov, Anna Ukolova, Aleksey Rozin, Dmitriy Bykovskiy-Romashov, Sergey Pokhodaev, Sergey Bachurskiy, Platon Kamenev, Irina Graba. Screenplay: Andrei Zvyagintsev and Oleg Negin.

Twitter Capsule: Zvyagintsev makes ever more handsome movies and spins a good, novelistic yarn, but prosaic tendencies limit impact here.

VOR:   Impressively, after four features, Zvyagintsev already works at a level where very good movies feel like slight letdowns. Makes some points bluntly, but they're courageous ones to make. Plenty to probe.
