Last Train Home
aka Gui tu lie che
First screened in August 2014
Director: Lixin Fan. Documentary about massive annual migrations of Chinese workers laboring far from home, focalized through the movements and conflicts of one family from Sichuan Province. Subjects include Zhang Qin, Zhang Changhua, Chen Suqin, Zhang Yang, Tang Tingsui.

Twitter Capsule: Seems to juice some "spontaneous" moments; belabors some edits. Still, a potent interpersonal and social document.

VOR:   Even in moments that felt a little rigged to me, the window is valuable into titanic social patterns that U.S. media virtually ignore. Great pair with Up the Yangtze.
