Twitter Capsule: Wes and I, together at long, long last. Every frame, sound, and movement amazes. Culturally slippery, but not stupid.

Second Capsule: I could've ogled each image for ten minutes, and the sheer peculiarity, dense overlays of eras and idioms, and comic inventions thrilled me.

Third Capsule: I've now read many critiques of its cultural distortions; I take many points in that case and agree the movie's missteps are in these areas.

VOR:   Gargantuan ambition with the form of stop-motion animation, with its multi-character saga, and with their peculiar (and divisive) retro-futurist faux-Japan.
