The Iron Lady
First screened in December 2011 / Most recently screened in February 2019
Director: Phyllida Lloyd. Cast: Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent, Anthony Head, Alexandra Roach, Olivia Colman, Harold Lloyd, Richard E. Grant, Iain Glen, Nicholas Farrell, Roger Allam, Julian Wadham, Amanda Root, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Screenplay: Abi Morgan.

Twitter Capsule: (2011) 12,000 cuts and hardly any dramatic connections. Vigorously noncommittal where The Queen was inertly anti-dramatic.

Second Capsule: (2019) Complex motives and metaphors abound, but hapless direction squanders them. Hopeless at POV. Streep is up and down.

VOR:   My second viewing suggested there is more happening in this script than the graceless execution reveals. A story worth telling, and complicating.
