I Remember Mama
First screened in March 2009
Director: George Stevens. Cast: Irene Dunne, Barbara Bel Geddes, Philip Dorn, Oskar Homolka, Cedric Hardwicke, Edgar Bergen, Rudy Vallee, Barbara O'Neil, Ellen Corby, Hope Landin, Florence Bates, Peggy McIntyre, June Hedin, Steve Brown, Edith Evanson, Tommy Ivo. Screenplay: DeWitt Bodeen (based on the play by John Van Druten, itself based on the novel Mama's Bank Account by Kathryn Forbes).

Twitter Capsule: Dainty nightmare where you try to walk but can't proceed, your feet mired in wet, sticky pages of Reader's Digest.

VOR:   A significant moneymaker that both followed and inspired other versions of the story. Culturally important. Still it's artistically disappointing, especially from Stevens.
