Hausner exerts enough formal control that I never just gave up but this barely clears the bar of abstract, Lynchian menace.

Either a bald imitation of Lynch, a worthy idea not fully worked out, or an unconvincing feint at a genre Hausner finds uncomfortable. Not a wash, but not much, either.
