The Goodbye Girl (1977)
Most recently screened in June 2016
Director: Herbert Ross. Cast: Marsha Mason, Richard Dreyfuss, Quinn Cummings, Paul Benedict, Barbara Rhodes, Patricia Pearcy, Theresa Merritt, Michael Shawn. Screenplay: Neil Simon.

Twitter Capsule: So much of the script, direction, and characterization is obnoxious. I'm amazed it charms me as much as it does.

VOR:   Some things to note here: the ability to sell Simon on screen, where many adapters have failed; the deft child performance; the moments of real warmth. Expendable, but not nothing.
