Death of a Salesman (1951)
First screened in February 2016
Director: Laslo Benedek. Cast: Fredric March, Mildred Dunnock, Kevin McCarthy, Cameron Mitchell, Howard Smith, Don Keefer, David Alpert, Royal Beal, Jesse White, Claire Carleton, Elisabeth Fraser, Patricia Edwards. Screenplay: Stanley Roberts (based on the play by Arthur Miller).

Twitter Capsule: Direction not limber enough to free strong cast and text into full potentials. Keyed to the stage. Good score.

VOR:   Like the play, Salesman on film departs more often from realism and breaks up Aristotelian unities more often than you may recall. Hardly pure cinema, but some chance-taking.
