Darkest Hour
First screened in November 2017
Director: Joe Wright. Cast: Gary Oldman, Stephen Dillane, Lily James, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn, Ronald Pickup, Samuel West, Nicholas Jones, David Schofield, Richard Lumsden, Malcolm Storry, Hilton McRae, Benjamin Whitrow, Joe Armstrong, Adrian Rawlins, David Bamber, Paul Leonard, voice of David Strathairn. Screenplay: Anthony McCarten.

Twitter Capsule: Bombastic and drunk on gloss. Some scenes co-scwipted by Gemini's Twin. Acting, score a bit plummy even at their best.

Second Capsule: Best scene is when Winston Churchill ventures down into the Tube and proves he can stand en pointe and guzzle beer with Jack Dawson and Co.

VOR:   I suppose turning WWII history into an on-screen graphic novel is some kind of new stride, but Oldman's intensity aside, this is a non-event.
