In Brief: Bowled me over less than first time (unsure on structure, POV), but succeeds as both immersed portrait and camera feat.

VOR:   So few documentaries achieve this level of immersion alongside their subjects, much less train them as the principal crew in a daunting environment.

Grade: B+

(in April 2005: A–)

Awards:
Sundance Film Festival: Audience Award (Documentary); Best Cinematography (Documentary); Freedom of Expression Award
Independent Spirit Awards: Best Documentary Feature
Los Angeles Film Critics Association: Best Documentary Feature
