Burlesque
First screened in November 2010 / Most recently screened in December 2018 / Reviewed in January 2019
Director: Steve Antin. Cast: Christina Aguilera, Cher, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane, Kristen Bell, Peter Gallagher, Dianna Agron, Alan Cumming, Julianne Hough, David Walton, Terrence Jenkins, Glynn Turman, James Brolin. Screenplay: Steve Antin.

Twitter Capsule: (2010) Hopeless at the level of script, structure, but genuinely exuberant and amiable, and handles its numbers well. I howled.

Second Capsule: (2019) Few films are this unpretentious. Is that a dig? Not totally. Is Burlesque good? Not really. But yeah, kinda. It's fun!

VOR:   Musicals are hard. Wholly original ones were attempted even more seldom in 2010 than now. That said, this film is emphatically trivial. Which I dig.
