Baby Doll
First screened in October 2001 / Most recently screened in March 2016
Director: Elia Kazan. Cast: Karl Malden, Carroll Baker, Eli Wallach, Mildred Dunnock, Lonny Champan, Eades Hogue, Noah Williamson, Rip Torn, Madeleine Sherwood. Screenplay: Tennesse Williams (based on his play 27 Wagons Full of Cotton).

Twitter Capsule: Rotten, inimitable, expertly shot American dramedy, powered and haunted by its own vulgarity. Ace direction. Genius set.

VOR:   Amazingly bold in content and theme, and not just "for its time." Incredibly precise management of tone and ideas. Unmistakably Williams, but barely a whiff of the stage. Remarkable.
