Valiant Is the Word for Carrie
First screened in May 2006 / Most recently screened in June 2014
Director: Wesley Ruggles. Cast: Gladys George, Jackie Moran, John Howard, Charlene Wyatt, Arline Judge, Harry Carey, Dudley Digges, Isabel Jewell, John Wray, Janet Young, Hattie McDaniel, William Collier Sr., Adrienne D'Ambricourt. Screenplay: Claude Binyon (based on the novel by Barry Benefield).

Twitter Capsule: George's adept work in a rare lead role sadly brushed aside for perfunctory soaper with grown kids.

VOR:   Lingers enough that you can't call it "disposable." I like that Carrie is a bit older than your average sexual pariah in a 30s film. Odd mix of tones intrigues. Still, rather perfunctory.
