Victor/Victoria
First screened in August 1999 / Most recently screened in May 2006
Director: Blake Edwards. Cast: Julie Andrews, Robert Preston, James Garner, Lesley Ann Warren, Alex Karras, John Rhys-Davies, Norman Chancer, Maria Charles, Malcolm Jamieson, David Gant, Graham Stark, Peter Arne. Screenplay: Blake Edwards (based on an earlier screenplay by Reinhold Schünzel).

Twitter Capsule: Inspired moments but the whole is semi-dispiriting. Weird amalgam of dated MGM bloat and stabs at Fosse modernity.

Second Capsule: With a script and cast this eager to please, why don't I have more fun? Doesn't capitalize on its zaniest assets.

VOR:   Nice to find Andrews in her métier (musical comedy, nostalgic for old styles) while sexing it up a bit. Interesting studio investment in Tootsie year of pop gender-bending.
