Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am
First screened in July 2019
Director: Theodore Greenfield-Sanders. Documentary about the life, career, and influence of the Nobel Prize-winning African American novelist. Interview subjects include Toni Morrison, Hilton Als, Russell Banks, David Carrasco, Richard Danielpour, Angela Davis, Paula Giddings, Robert Gottlieb, Farah Jasmine Griffin, Fran Leibowitz, Walter Mosley, Sonia Sanchez, Oprah Winfrey.

Twitter Capsule: Morrison's testimonies, new or archival, are reliably rewarding. Career survey has lamentable gaps.

Second Capsule: I have no critical distance from the Toni Morrison documentary, about which I loved many things and questioned or resisted some others.

VOR:   I'm not positive how much of this information is new, and certainly the doc breaks no ground for its genre, but what an inspiring encapsulation.
