Thoroughly Modern Millie
First screened in June 2003 / Most recently screened in Fall 2012
Director: George Roy Hill. Cast: Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Channing, John Gavin, James Fox, Beatrice Lillie, Cavada Humphrey, Jack Soo, Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, Philip Ahn, Anthony Dexter, Michael St. Clair, Lisabeth Hush, Herbie Faye. Screenplay: Richard Morris.

Twitter Capsule: Eager to charm but lacks the equipment. Pale characters and scenarios. Desultory, despite all the expense.

VOR:   A late curtain call for roadshow musicals with studio-era production values, before later-60s vehicles that were even bleaker. Attempts some inventions, albeit flatly. Racist as fuck.
