Shampoo
Most recently screened in December 2006
Director: Hal Ashby. Cast: Warren Beatty, Julie Christie, Goldie Hawn, Jack Warden, Lee Grant, Tony Bill, Carrie Fisher, George Furth, Jay Robinson, Ann Weldon, Luana Anders, Susanna Moore, Randy Scheer, William Castle, Howard Hesseman. Screenplay: Robert Towne and Warren Beatty (based loosely on the play The Country Wife by William Wycherley).

Twitter Capsule: Indulgent, but I love its slantwise, seriocomic approach to epochal depression, which it spoofs while fully sympathizing.

VOR:   On the surface, a sudsy and silly departure from the famous tradition of Political Cinema in the mid-70s U.S., but in fact a stealth participant. Creative with story and tone.
