A Room with a View
First screened in 1987 or 1988 / Most recently screened in March 2016
Director: James Ivory. Cast: Helena Bonham Carter, Julian Sands, Maggie Smith, Denholm Elliott, Simon Callow, Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Fabia Drake, Patrick Godfrey, Rupert Graves, Joan Henley, Rosemary Leach, Amanda Walker, Kitty Aldridge, Brigid Enid Bates, Maria Britneva, Peter Cellier, Mia Fothergill. Screenplay: Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (based on the novel by E.M. Forster).

Twitter Capsule: No hiding it's a minor tale. A tad overstarched. Still, a disarming mix of the comic, bookish, and picturesque.

VOR:   Less consummate than early-90s Merchant Ivory peaks, but almost single-handedly responsible for growing the market in literary adaptation, with unusual humor and grace.
