The Revenant
First screened in January 2016
Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu. Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, Duane Howard, Forrest Goodluck, Melaw Nakehk'o, Arthur RedCloud, Fabrice Adde, Paul Anderson, Kristoffer Joner, Joshua Burge, Lukas Haas, Robert Moloney, Christopher Rosamond. Screenplay: Mark L. Smith and Alejandro González Iñárritu (based on the novel by Michael Punke).

Twitter Capsule: DiPassion of DiCaprio. Utterly unilluminating at levels of story, character. Even the lensing didn't make much sense.

VOR:   Arduous and ostentatious filmmaking need not imply originality or value. The Revenant offers less at the stylistic level than it seems, and even less in theme or tale.
