Private Benjamin
First screened in February 2004 / Most recently screened in July 2016
Director: Howard Zieff. Cast: Goldie Hawn, Eileen Brennan, Armand Assante, Robert Webber, Alston Ahern, Damita Jo Freeman, Toni Kalem, Mary Kay Place, P.J. Soles, Sam Wanamaker, Barbara Barrie, Albert Brooks, Gretchen Wyler, Harry Dean Stanton, Craig T. Nelson, Helen Baron, Paul Mann, Mimi Maynard, Keone Young, Alice Hirson, Richard Herd, Sally Kirkland (!!). Screenplay: Nancy Meyers, Charles Shyer, and Harvey Miller.

Twitter Capsule: Feels like two or more TV seasons collapsed into one film, but Hawn's charisma holds it together. Uneven laughs.

VOR:   Valuable case of an actress taking creative stewardship of her career, to huge public response. The film is hardly innovative, but the showcasing of female talent gratifies.
