Primrose Path
First screened in October 2007 / Most recently screened in January 2016
Director: Gregory La Cava. Cast: Ginger Rogers, Joel McCrea, Marjorie Rambeau, Queenie Vassar, Miles Mander, Henry Travers, Joan Carroll, Vivienne Osborne, Gene Morgan, Carmen Morales, Bobby Barber, Jacqueline Dalya, Charles Lane, Larry McGrath. Screenplay: Allan Scott and Gregory La Cava (based on the novel February Hill by Victoria Lincoln and the play by Robert L. Buckner and Walter Hart).

Twitter Capsule: Compellingly strange downscale drama, evoking the heroine's shame of poverty and family as few movies of its era do.

VOR:   Much of what hampers the film from one stanpoint, such as its ambivalent blend of candor and euphemism, sorrow and romance, also makes it memorable. Quite frank about sex work.
