The Notebook (2013)
aka A nagy füzet
First screened in October 2013
Director: János Szász. Cast: András Gyémánt, László Gyémánt, Gyöngvyér Bognár, Ulrich Matthes, Piroska Molnár, Orsolya Tóth, Ulrich Thomsen, Diána Kiss, János Derzsi, Péter Andorai, Krisztián Kovács, Gyula Kovács, Enikö Börcsök, Àkos Köszegi. Screenplay: András Szekér, János Szász, and Tom Abrams (based on the novel by Agota Kristof).

Twitter Capsule: Hungary's Oscar bid is sour, creepier, kid-driven spin on A Very Long Engagement. Device-laden and unevenly executed.

VOR:   Clearly energy has been expended, and the lavish, almost effulgent style will appeal to soome. The creeping dislikability of the twin leads is the film's boldest gesture. Otherwise, well-trod ground.
