Mannerisms can get the best of it, but nobody animates and deoxygenates memories at the same time like Davies does.

As moved and intrigued as I was by this odd duck of a film, you couldn't say Davies pushes himself all that much, beyond the atypical material and milieu. Poignant but missable.
