Bridesmaids: 49th Parallel (aka The Invaders), Kings Row, The Magnificent Ambersons, The Pied Piper, The Pride of the Yankees, Random Harvest, The Talk of the Town, Wake Island, Yankee Doodle Dandy
My Vote: The Magnificent Ambersons, with Yankee and Harvest as spiffy runners-up
Overlooked: Now, Voyager, Bambi, Cat People

Mrs. Miniver
First screened in May 2006 / Most recently screened in July 2009
Director: William Wyler. Cast: Greer Garson, Walter Pidgeon, Richard Ney, Teresa Wright, Dame May Whitty, Henry Travers, Henry Wilcoxon, Reginald Owen, Brenda Forbes, Christopher Severn, Clare Sandars. Screenplay: Arthur Wimperis, George Froeschel, James Hilton, and Claudine West (based on the novel by Jan Struther).

Twitter Capsule: Corn syrup for sure, but silk and steel, too. Best sequences and performances stand tall amid uneven surroundings.

VOR:   Homefront hokum at times, privileging hoary sentimental contrivances. At others, replete with middlebrow passion and nationalist zeal. Special and suspect at once.
