As with Sully I admire its nuances and evasions of cliché but also craved a deeper probe. García and the boys are great.
As usual with Sachs's films, more nuances emerge on second viewing. Still, this one doesn't hit me as earlier ones did.
Even if the movie strikes me as risking too much on elision and miniaturism, it's a storytelling strategy the movies could use more. You can almost see a real New York here.
