The Imitation Game
First screened in October 2014
Director: Morten Tyldum. Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Charles Dance, Matthew Beard, Rory Kinnear, Allen Leech, Alex Lawther, James Northcote, Steven Waddington, Tuppence Middleton. Screenplay: Graham Moore (based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges).

Twitter Capsule: Involving if opaque in code-cracking scenes. Craven handling of sexuality. Pedestrian biopic strategies.

VOR:   Whatever value inheres in broadcasting even a timid take on Turing's story is heaviliy mitigated by skating over the state-sanctioned homophobia in which its story and themes culminated. Pathetic.
