The Hunting Ground
First screened in March 2015
Director: Kirby Dick. Documentary about epidemics of sexual assault and negligent prosecution in U.S. higher education. Screenplay: Kirby Dick.

Twitter Capsule: Again, this filmmaker's subjects have to carry the movie past some slickness in its construction. But they do.

Second Capsule: To be clear, as a film, I wanted more from The Hunting Ground. As an inquiry into crucial issues for any educator, any person, it's vital.

VOR:   Easy to sniff out tensions among journalistic, artistic, and activist agendas; finale reaches hard for triumphalism. Still, even its flaws make it crucial to see and to debate.
