First Saw It:
How Green Was My Valley
March 6, 2005, on DVD
Bridesmaids: Blossoms in the Dust, Citizen Kane, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Hold Back the Dawn, The Little Foxes, The Maltese Falcon, One Foot in Heaven, Sergeant York, Suspicion
My Vote: Citizen Kane, though there are five win-quality pics here
Overlooked: The Lady Eve, one of the best comedies Hollywood ever made

How Green Was My Valley
First screened in March 2005 / Most recently screened in May 2014
Director: John Ford. Cast: Roddy McDowall, Donald Crisp, Sara Allgood, Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O'Hara, Patric Knowles, Barry Fitzgerald, John Loder, Evan S. Evans, James Monks, Anna Lee, Lionel Pape, Marten Lamont, Rhys Williams, Ethel Griffies, voice of Irving Pichel. Screenplay: Philip Dunne (based on the novel by Llewellyn Davies).

Twitter Capsule: Photography alone puts it among the greats. More "precious" than other Fords. Other flaws, but so moving.

VOR:   Frequently overshadowed by Ford's other classics of the period, and by Citizen Kane, which it notoriously beat to the Oscar. But this is still state-of-the-art for its era.
