The Heartbreak Kid (1972)
First screened in May 2016
Director: Elaine May. Cast: Charles Grodin, Cybill Shepherd, Jeannie Berlin, Eddie Albert, Audra Lindley, Mitchell Jason, Doris Roberts, William Prince, Augusta Dabney, Jack Hausman, Marilyn Putnam. Screenplay: Neil Simon (based on the story "A Change of Plan" by Bruce Jay Friedman).

Twitter Capsule: May's pitiless spin on Neil Simon story is admirably unexpected but broad in its own way. Better in retrospect.

VOR:   The tonal experiment, less an artistic choice than a statement of worldview, is very interesting, even if the movie doesn't persuade you scene by scene. And it persuades many.
