2000 Golden Globe Nominees and Winners

And the winners are...

In a wide open year, no film won more than two statuettes, itself a distinction shared by four different movies. Since the Globes failed, then, to provide much insight into what the Academy races might look like, they were left to fulfill their sole other function: to show what happens when you get Hollywood stars drunk and well-fed before putting them behind a live microphone. Renée Zellweger set an all-time speed record in switching from humiliated (she was caught in the bathroom when her winning name was called out) to classy (thanking director Cameron Crowe, in attendance for Almost Famous, for giving her the big Jerry Maguire break four years ago.) Besides that, a generally uneventful evening. Here are the nominees and winners in the film categories, as well as, in the left hand column my predictions. Incorrect forecasts are rendered in red text—for the first time ever, there are only two!
