The Danish Girl
First screened in December 2015
Director: Tom Hooper. Cast: Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw, Matthias Schoenaerts, Amber Heard, Sebastian Koch, Pip Torrens, Adrian Schiller, Jake Graf, Sonya Cullingford, Nicholas Woodeson, Philip Arditti, Miltos Yerolemou. Screenplay: Lucinda Coxon (based on the novel by David Ebershoff).

Twitter Capsule: Literally nothing about Hooper's filmmaking is well-suited to evoking complex internal shifts. And unfortunately...

Second Capsule: Like watching sad-faced artisans make Limoges boxes in a wide, dark room while a weeping string quartet plays in the back.

VOR:   Transgender representations, particularly historical ones, are rare enough that this one has value, but everything in this telling seems sanded down to bland "prestige" contours.
