Damage
First screened in Summer 1993 / Most recently screened in August 2016
Director: Louis Malle. Cast: Jeremy Irons, Juliette Binoche, Miranda Richardson, Rupert Graves, Peter Stormare, Leslie Caron, David Thewlis, Ian Bannen, Julian Fellowes, Gemma Clarke, Tony Doyle, Raymond Grevell. Screenplay: David Hare (based on the novel by Josephine Hart).

Twitter Capsule: Script can be too lurid or direction too abstract, but that very combo is interesting. Biziou, Preisner, Richardson ace it.

VOR:   The movie risks a certain stone-faced ludicrousness more than once; Irons himself has expressed dissatisfaction. But both the style and the emotional intensity constitute real risks.
