American Sniper
First screened in January 2015
Director: Clint Eastwood. Cast: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Jake McDorman, Luke Grimes, Keir O'Donnell, Sammy Sheik, Mido Hamada, Reynaldo Gallegos, Kevin Lacz, Cory Hardrict, Eric Ladin, Sam Jaeger, Chance Kelly, Jad Mhidi Senhaji, Navid Negahban, Cole Konis, Luke Sunshine, Ben Reed, Elise Robertson, Jonathan Groff, Robert Clotworthy. Screenplay: Jason Hall (based on the book American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History by Chris Kyle with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice).

Twitter Capsule: As colossal and lean as its lead; as skillful and as disinclined to flaunt introspection. Fearsomely well-edited.

VOR:   I refuse most political readings made so far about this film, but their abundance and divisiveness have made it an Event. As if its technique, daring, and subtlety didn't already do that.
